Built up areas: In the UK for a built up area the limit is 48 km/h or 30 mph. In Ireland it is 30-50 km/h. On the Isle of Man, 48 km/h or 30 mph. On open roads: Main motorways in the UK and Northern Ireland 112 km/or 70 mph. Normal open road in the UK 97 km/h or 60 mph. In Ireland it is 80-90 km/h. On the Isle of Man, there is no speed limit for certain areas of open roads between some towns.
Helmets
The wearing of helmets is compulsory in the UK, Ireland and in Europe.
Alcohol
Drinking and riding/driving is an offence in the UK and in Europe. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol for every 100 mls of blood.
Cell Phones
As in New Zealand, it is illegal to talk on cellphones while driving a vehicle.
Seat belts
Again it is illegal not to wear a seatbelt while driving a vehicle.
